Alan F. WawrzyniakWAWRZYNIAK

Alan F. Wawrzyniak, 73, of Norwood Park, succumbed to his ten year battle with Huntington’s Disease, September 28, 2017, at home surrounded by his devoted family.  Beloved husband of Sheila, nee Shipley.  Loving father of Rebecca (Brendan) McNab, Suzanne (Dan) Spenny and Frank (Lindsey) Wawrzyniak.  Proud grandfather of Tevin, Bentley and Samantha. He was a beloved brother-in-law and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Born April 5, 1944 in Chicago, Alan was a longtime resident of Norwood Park and a faithful member of Saint Thecla Parish. He was a Lieutenant with the University of Illinois at Chicago Police Department, retiring after 25 years of service and a member of FOP Lodge #10.  He was an avid gardener, Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed traveling. Alan was a family man first who, by example, had a huge impact on so many people in his life.  From his unwavering insistence that everyone in the house go to church every Sunday, to his steadfast execution of the values instilled in him by what he heard there, he was an embodiment of what it means to be a Christian.
