Helen Joyce Phillips Helen Joyce Phillips LogoPHILLIPS

Helen Joyce Phillips (Sister M. Andrew) was born in Conway, Emmet County, Michigan in 1929 and was the only sister among seven brothers.  As a young woman, she worked in business and administration in a variety of places in the country, but finally found her home with the Medical Missionaries of Mary in 1957.   She has lived and worked in Spain, Ireland and the USA, but found the greatest use of her gifts and concern for our world making friends for MMM and building relationships across the country that helped build hospitals, health centers, train doctors, nurses and other health care workers.  In her early years, she worked at Pope John XXIII National Seminary in Boston and the friends she made became the friends of MMM.  She was tireless in her efforts to share the story of the Medical Missionaries of Mary.  She is loved by many in her large extended family and certainly by her MMM Sisters and Associates.  Her fidelity to telling the MMM story around the country is legendary to many.  After a fall in December 2008, she was forced to bring that work to an end as she needed skilled nursing care.  For the last eight years she has been so well cared for by the staff of Resurrection Life Center.  She continued her interest in her family who have been so good to her, and in her MMM sisters.  Visitation will be at Resurrection Life Center, 7370 W. Talcott, Chicago, Tuesday, July 18, 2017 from 11:00 AM until the time of Mass at 12:30. Interment will be Private.  In lieu of flowers, we know she would love any donations to go to the Medical Missionaries of Mary in Chicago that she was so much a part of for many years.  MMM Mission Development Office, 4425 W. 63rd Street, Suite 100, Chicago, IL 60629-5565  For further information Suerth Funeral Home 877-631-1240.
